What is sin?

The new Webster's dictionary gives us the following: a transgression against divine or moral law, especially when committed consciously; conduct or state of mind of a habitual or unrepentant sinner; iniquity; evil; to depart from path of duty prescribed by God; to violate any rule of duty; to do wrong.

Sin originated on earth the moment Eve bit the apple. It's not the fact that she bit the apple; it is the fact that she disobeyed God. God put two trees in the Garden of Eden, the tree of knowledge of good and evil and the tree of life. He told them not to eat the fruit of the first tree but never mentioned the second one. God did this for a reason. He didn't want them to love him through force. God wanted them and us to choose whether to love him or not. No two people ever had it better than these two. It just shows you how conniving Satan really is. If he could get them to transgress against God, then that would be a victory for him. Even though Satan talked Eve into biting the apple, it was still her choice. She made the decision. That is what separates mankind from the rest of God's creation. He gave us the ability to choose.

Now bring us to the current day. Sin has multiplied numerous times. Sin is like pollution. Just like pollution, it has no respect for man or woman or child. Just as air pollution can cause sickness, sin can cause sickness of the mind and body. We scream about clean air and water, but most of us ignore sin and its effects. Take away sin from the world, and there would be no cancer or kidney disease or any other illness. Sin is the reason that we have killings, drugs, rapists, homosexuality, pornography, abortions, divorces and so on. Everything that is wrong in this world can be linked to sin. It is that powerful! Why is it that powerful? Because Satan is behind it, and he wants everyone to join him in Hell when the time comes.

There are several different movements here in this country and across the globe to be more accepting. This is the very attitude that will eventually be our downfall. Some would say that as long as it doesn't hurt somebody else, they should be free to do whatever they want. Some people want to be free to do their own thing, forsaking spouses, children, and most importantly God, regardless of the consequences. Wasn't that Satan's downfall? Freedom without self-restraint is a dangerous thing. We as individuals and as a nation need to put God first in everything that we do. If we don't, then we just have to look at Babylon, Rome, Egypt, and others to know what lies in store for us.

Now I realize that some of you are saying that I need to chill out and that I need to be a little more politically correct. You may ask what is wrong with letting people be what they want to be? The only answer I can give you is, at what cost? Things may look greener on the other side of the fence, but there is a price to pay if you cross over. You may not have to pay the price while you are still alive. If you don't, just remember that you will after you die.

I would rather be Biblically correct than politically correct!
